Man falls from train in Ilorin, dies

Tragedy struck in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital yesterday when an armless man fell from a moving train and died on the spot.

The incident occurred around Post Office area, GRA, Ilorin at about 9.10 A.M when the Lagos to Kano bound train took off from the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) station in Ilorin.

The Station Manager,NRC, Ilorin,Mr. Godwin Ehinziyore confirmed the development.
He said the station had warned that no passenger should hang on the train.

Ehinziyore explained that announcement had been repeatedly made in Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa languages to the effect that hanging on a moving train was risky.

He said the corporation could not be held responsible for whatever happens to illegal passengers who choose to hang on the train.

He,however, said the corpse of the victim had been deposited in a mortuary in Ilorin by the officials of the corporation.
