“Ex-Minister will bounce PDP to power in Plateau”

A former member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Gorge Daika, has expressed confidence in the leadership quality of Plateau State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and former Minister, Hon. Damishi Sango in reconciling the aggrieved members and return the party to power in 2019.

He applauded the spirit of reconciliation imbibed by the ex-minister when he took over control of the party leadership in the state and called on critical stakeholders of the party to support the action to strengthen the acceptability of the party in the state.

Hon. Daika who was a former Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly stated this is an interview with Journalists in Jos, caution those drumming support for him ahead of the 2019 governorship election and urged them to joint hand with the PDP in reconciling aggrieved members.

According to him, “inspite of the defeat PDP suffered in 2015, the party remained the strongest party in Plateau State. With people like former Minister, Hon. Damishi Sango as chairman of the Party and other members of the Exco in Plateau, I am certain that the party will bounce back to power in the next election.

“People who are canvassing support for me to contest the 2019 governorship election in Plateau are doing that out of love and concern, but that is not my priority now, i want us to join hands with the leadership of the party in reconciling aggrieved member.

“We still have crisis on who is the legitimate National Chairman of the Party, and back home some people who contested election and lost are still aggrieved, we should focus on reconciling members who have left the party for one obvious reasons, and until then the stakeholders of the party will give us clear direction.”

Hon. Daika described the Judicial Commissioner of Enquiry set up by Governor Simon Lalong to probe former governor Jonah Jang as illegal, saying until the State House of Assembly is petition with grieved allegations of financial malfeasance; Lalong has no right to set the probe panel.

He noted that the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited ex-governor Jang for about four times but have not been pinned down for a single allegation, adding that whatever probe panel will be doing is a waste of time and resources.

Daika added that Lalong has succeeded in rescuing himself and his political associations and leaving Plateau people to languish in abject poverty and hardship.
