Reps members sponsores Kwara NUJ tennies tournament

A two- day kwara NUJ inter- chapel table tennies competition sponsored by Hon.Tope Olayonu,representing Offa/Oyun federal constituenecies in the House of Representatives yesterday kicked off at press centre of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ilorin.

The competition is taking place among 10 chapels in the state.

They are NTA chapel, Correspondents’chapel,State Information chapel, Kwara TV chapel,
Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRSC),Harmony chapel and National Pilot chapel.

Others are Federal information chapel, Unilorin and Radio Kwara.

The event is part of the 2016 pre-press week activities of the Kwara council of NUJ.

State chairman of the NUJ, mallam Abiodun Abdulkareem who was represented at the opening ceremony of the competition,said the competition was organnised to keep members physically and memntaly fit.

He praised the lawmaker for sponsoring the tournament which he said will further foster unity and friendship amongst working journalists in the state.

At the end of yesterday’s games,Yinka Owolewa of Correspondents’chapel advanced to semi- final having won 3 games from 5 maches with 11 points and he is to play Babatunde Jimba of Kwara TV who won all 5 games with 15 points.

In the second semi-final, Bolakale Alabi of NTA who won 4 out of 5 games with 13 points is to play Yusuf Abubakar of Information chapel who had 9 points from 2 games.

Sodiq Adebara of Harmony FM chapel who secured 7 points from 5 matches and Toyin Saheed of National pilot who had 5 Points from 5 matches both, crashed out of the tournaments.
A statement issued by the chairman,Kwara NUJ organizing committee, Sulyman Aremu and Secretary,Lekan Onilu respectively said final and closing ceremony of the competition will take place by 2pm today at NUJ press centre,Ilorin.

The statement said Hon. Olayonunn,Senior Speacial Assistant to the Kwara state governor (Media and Communications) ,Dr.Mideen Akorede ,chief press secretary to the governor,Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba and heads of media estabishments in the state are expected to grace the cermony.
