Gov. Ahmed’s wife leads prayer for Nigeria

Wife of the Kwara State Governor, Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed, alongside women from various Muslim organisations across the 16 Local Government area of the state,on Tuesday, embarked on prayers for the state and Nigeria at large.

The prayers are a yearly event organised by Mrs Ahmed alongside various women groups from both Muslims and Christian religious adherent to pray for the peace and stability of the country.

Hajia Muslima Olaniyan, the Amirah Jamuiyatu Istijaba Women Society, who spoke on the  “Role of mothers in Contemporary Society” said women carry the burden of the society on their shoulder.

According to her, the most reverend role that Islam associates and assigns women pertaining to social relation is that of ‘mother’.

“The woman is the pillar, the base that supports the family and charged with responsibility to educate the children,” she said.

Olaniyan observed that due to the power of mother and her influence on the family members, especially the children, mothers must comport themselves well and in accordance with Muslim ideas.

The Amirah explained that the trustworthiness and respectability the mother exhibit at home eventually gets to the child and get exposed in the society.

ROYAL NEWS reports that she further explained that such characters and attitude are what makes society orderly and better. 

Speaking also at the prayer session, Mrs. Sarat Yunusa, of the Department of Primary Health of the Kwara Ministry of Health, appeal to mothers to take their babies for immunization against measles and yellow fever.

She also enjoined on physical and spiritual cleanliness in the society.
