President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday asked the electorate in Ekiti State to vote for the candidate of the All Progressive Party (APC), Dr. Kayode Fayemi in Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

Buhari arrived the state at about 1pm for the grand finale of the mega rally of the party.

He told the crowd of party faithful and supporters who converged on the Oluyemi Kayode stadium that there was no better alternative to Fayemi.

The President said the people of Ekiti must not be blindfolded by the stomach infrastructure program of the present government in the state, which he said was at variance with norms in a functional democracy.

Buhari said he was in Ekiti State not only to campaign for Fayemi, but also to create awareness as well as sensitize the people regarding the dividends of democracy so far made available to residents.

According to him, the Federal Government had so far executed a total of 13 meaningful contracts in the state, with 29 contractors handling them.

He said the projects, worth several millions of naira, most of which were road constructions had also provided direct and indirect jobs for many residents.

The President also said approval had been given by his administration for the construction of a Federal Secretariat in Ado Ekiti to easy office accommodation problem faced by federal workers in the state.

He also listed the engagement of many indigenes of the state on the N-Power program of the Federal Government and granting of bailout to the state.

According to him, the School-Feeding Program as well as granting of Conditional Cash Transfer scheme for peasant traders in the state were part of his achievements.

The President assured that the people of the state would enjoy more of such dividends if they cast their votes for the APC candidate.

Among them were all the national leaders and principals officers of the party, 12 APC governors, seven serving ministers and eminent men and women from across the land.

.

Also addressing the crowd, the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole said Fayemi was out to correct all the wrongs caused by the present PDP leadership of Gov Ayo Fayose.

According to him, all the salaries and emoluments owed state workers by Fayose, despite all the financial assistance offered states by the federal government would be paid within couple of months of assuming office.

Oshiomhole said the coming opportunity must be used wisely by the voters so as to guarantee a better future.

Speaking in the same vein, the National Leader of the party, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu assured that the APC was committed to the progress and development of the country.

He accused the PDP, and not the APC of destroying the economy of Nigeria, calling it “Poverty Development Party”.

Tinubu said the only way out of the woods was for the people to dump the PDP and embrace the APC.

” It was the PDP that destroyed the future of Nigeria and those yet unborn. PDP stole all the monies and made life difficult for all the citizens.

” It is not easy to rebuild what the PDP has spent long years destroying, many of them that are now complaining, where were they when our economy was being bastardized?

” You must not allow anybody to intimidate you, I urge you to guide your PVC and use it wisely on Saturday.

” It is your turn in Ekiti to get a good government, it is not for you alone but for your children and their future”, Tinubu said.
