How to realize your dreams, UNILORIN VC releases tips

Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, UNILORIN VC

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, has charged new students of the University to complement their dreams with the drive to realise it and not be distracted.

Prof. Abdulkareem stated this during the 2018/2019 Matriculation Ceremony, held at the University Auditorium, said that “the state of some people today is a reflection of their inability to dream yesterday”.

Entitled “If You Can Dream It, You Can Achieve It”, the Vice-Chancellor, in his speech stated that new students have the quality to become anything they can imagine, urging them to dream and work towards what they set to be in life.

He said, “Having a dream is a matter of determination that should be complemented with the drive to realise it”, adding that “if you can dream it, you can achieve it”.

He further reminded the students that part of their purpose in life include “having lofty and attainable dreams”.

“dreams dreamt by man need to be achieved, your personal dreams are very important; of which you should be the major driver”.

The VC also congratulated the new students on their successful admission into the “prestigious and unequaled” institution, reminding them that they are in the University because “you are, indeed, lucky to be among the privileged few from tens of thousand applicants who sought admission into this reputable citadel of learning that is famously called “Better by Far.”

The Vice-Chancellor, who also advised them to be optimistic as they have sailed through the rigorous process of securing admission and matriculating, said, “This assembly is not entirely about celebration but one that calls for the need to set agenda or goals”.
